Currently, diversification in cryptocurrency trading is a necessity for any trader, which is why I use Poloniex, Bittrex, Kraken, and Exmo simultaneously. Among all these platforms, Poloniex takes the lead, as here I can utilize the widest range of analytical tools and work with both major exchange pairs and lesser-known ones. The fees vary depending on the type of operation (maker/taker) and the trading volume for the month. A downside is that the platform only operates with cryptocurrencies; fiat money is not accepted here, so I have to turn to other exchanges to convert bitcoins to dollars. In the end, after making a profit, I withdraw funds to my bitcoin wallet and then deposit them into an exchange that supports fiat currencies. This turns out to be slightly more profitable than using exchangers.

On this exchange, you can quite often encounter scammers trying to deceive novice traders. This is understandable, as the trading volumes here are significant, there are many traders, and new ones are constantly appearing, creating opportunities for scams. Firstly, the service itself sometimes operates unstably; secondly, phishing of accounts via email is common. This happens all the time. To avoid falling victim to phishing, you need to pay close attention to emails and check the sender. Poloniex rarely sends messages, and they are always to the point. Thirdly, the exchange lacks mobile applications. If you see any, that too will be phishing. The platform is only available in web version, without exceptions. Overall, the variety of phishing is the only thing that causes disappointment with the exchange. Even 2FA doesn't always help. The administration cannot fully resolve this issue, so account security depends on the users themselves. Therefore, reports of account losses on Poloniex are quite frequent. As for trading on the platform, it is organized at a high level. The tools are good, and there are many opportunities. Surprisingly, margin trading is available here, unlike many crypto exchanges that only offer standard currency exchange. Poloniex has gone further and somewhat resembles forex.

I have been working on this platform since 2016 and have no intention of leaving. At first, I faced difficulties due to language nuances, as my English was lacking, but over time I got used to it. The interface and tools of the exchange completely satisfy me — everything is intuitive and convenient. Navigation is simple, and everything needed for trading is on one screen: markets, chat, news — I can expand and collapse them as needed to avoid distractions. Markets can be easily sorted by filters: alphabet, volumes, price dynamics. I also have the option to set up favorite trading pairs, which makes finding the market I need very easy. In the center of the window is a chart with statistics, below is the trading history and price order book with stop-limit. This allows for the use of auto-selling and auto-buying functions; you just need to set a threshold after which the order becomes a regular one. To work with margin leverage and credits, you first need to transfer to the relevant sections and then trade with leverage or rent out forks. Personally, I see no drawbacks to the service: there are many altcoins, a diverse list, although the listing is expensive, but this keeps incompetent traders away. Therefore, only more or less adequate participants remain on the exchange. I do not recommend engaging in small transactions, as accounts may be frozen, so this exchange is not suitable for faucet users.

At the moment, this exchange holds the top spot for me among all the ones I've worked with. I haven't encountered such favorable conditions even with other major players in the cryptocurrency market. I haven't faced any geographical restrictions and have traded smoothly both in Russia and in the CIS countries – access has always been stable, and performance is top-notch. The platform offers three main services: classic trading, margin trading, and lending. In addition to Bitcoin and Ethereum, I can also work with Dogecoin, Bitshares, Lisk, and many other forks. My account is protected by two-factor authentication, and for withdrawing large amounts, I completed verification to avoid the risk of freezing. At the beginning of its existence, the exchange had a single fee for all operations, meaning the percentage was the same for both buying and selling. Since 2016, they switched to a "maker-taker" model, separating fees for buying and selling. This was done to reduce spreads, but in practice, I haven't noticed any significant changes since then.

For me, Poloniex functions just like any forex broker. Other cryptocurrency exchanges do not have the same level of functionality and trading opportunities as Poloniex. I encountered similar tools a couple of years ago when I worked in the forex market: there, brokers provide all the necessary conditions for trading, the charts are serious and customizable, allowing you to adapt them to your needs. This exchange almost completely follows all the trends of forex. The only downside of the platform is the lack of the ability to conduct financial transactions with real currency. To fund your account, you need to use bitcoins or other forks, which requires purchasing them from exchanges. Thus, during periods of high cryptocurrency volatility, I often lose income simply because I can't deposit funds into the exchange in time. Overall, Poloniex is one of the best exchanges for working with cryptocurrency at the moment. However, it is not perfect; if basic wallets, including foreign ones (personally, I would be satisfied with WebMoney), were available, this platform would have no competitors.

During my time working on the exchange, I identified several advantages of the service: - a large number of trading pairs, including popular BTC and ETH, which provides me with unlimited liquidity; - convenient infographics, customizable price charts, and the presence of built-in tools and user settings. On some other exchanges, you can only find a basic chart of price fluctuations; - an intuitive interface that makes it easy to track my activities and transaction history. I can quickly transfer my cryptocurrency from a passive account to a trading or credit account and back; - the availability of an open API, which allows for the development of trading software. Personally, I use this for remote trading via my mobile device; - an active forum on Trollbox for traders on this platform. Although there are some drawbacks, they are not critical. For example, there is no referral program, support for the Russian language, and fiat transactions. These points do not hinder my trading, so I don't take them into account.

Overall, the exchange has three key functions: trading, margin trading, and lending. Unlike many other services where only trading is available, this one implies classic trading—buying and selling currencies. This option, by the way, is the most popular even on Poloniex. The exchange process is essentially similar to other exchanges, but the execution quality is significantly higher. For example, in the order book, you can filter the pairs of interest, and then data about them will be displayed on an interactive chart. After that, you need to work with the chart, analyzing history, volumes, and relationships between pairs, and so on. For margin trading, the exchange offers to use candlesticks, time frames, oscillators, Fibonacci lines, Bollinger Bands, and other tools. The toolkit is indeed powerful. I can also use a stop-limit to avoid losses during a sharp decline in currency. Considering the high volatility of some cryptocurrencies, this is a very useful solution. As for lending, I haven't used it often, as it's not as easy to earn from it as from the exchange rate differences. This option uses a P2P scheme. I set the term and rate, but I don't impose my offer since the selection is made on a competitive basis. Therefore, due to competition among players, it's hard to make a significant profit. To earn from lending, you need to have a substantial deposit. Nevertheless, the mere existence of such an option makes Poloniex more attractive compared to other exchanges.

The only downside of this exchange for me is working with crypto wallets. Depositing and withdrawing funds is only possible through crypto wallets, and it's preferable to use a Bitcoin wallet, as transactions go through faster, in my observation. Familiar methods for online work, such as Webmoney, Qiwi, or even Yandex.Money, are absent here. Therefore, cashing out the wallet requires several steps, including exchanges, which leads to losses on conversion, and that's a downside. The exchange can be considered as a wallet for storing currency, but the decision to use this option or not is up to each individual. Personally, I don't really trust online platforms, but I still keep a small amount in my account. This is necessary for working with volatile currencies, as you never know in advance which rate will rise or fall, so for effective trading, it's useful to have an extra thousand or two dollars in cryptocurrency on hand.

Poloniex provides only the basic tools necessary for competent coin trading. Before making trades, I always analyze the price and trading history – this is the minimum that needs to be considered. Trading simply by relying on luck means guaranteed loss of your deposit; it would be easier to just go to a casino. I don't limit myself to one currency; I use almost all of them, tracking which ones have dropped in price and buying if I see potential for growth. When the price starts to rise, I usually sell half of my coins, leaving the other half for the long term. In some cases, I use limit orders – then the currency is sold at the price I set when it reaches that level. So, if you're not confident in your signals, it's better to follow my example – make small trades that ensure even minimal profit. Trying to recover losses with 1-2 large trades is at least unwise.

Overall, I like this service, although it has its drawbacks. Trading "anonymously" is not possible: trading is accessible, but to withdraw funds, you will need to verify your identity; otherwise, the operation may be blocked. For verification, you need to provide scans of documents confirming your identity and place of residence. It's unclear what happens to these documents after submission: are they stored, deleted, or at risk of a leak? You have to accept this practice, especially since it's typical for most platforms. I also had a transaction frozen once without explanation. This happened when I didn't complete the second stage of verification, and the operation seemed suspicious to them, so they marked it as "pending confirmation." This occurred during a withdrawal, and I couldn't access my money from the exchange for about two weeks. In the end, it seems I was "verified," and the withdrawal worked. Additionally, there is no Russian version or affiliate program. This is not critical; you can work without it, but it would be much more convenient with localization. Other than that, I have no complaints: the exchange has a good turnover and attractive trading conditions, and the fees are reasonable, so working here is comfortable. I don't use exchanges, including Poloniex, as a wallet for storing cryptocurrencies and don't trade solely on it—diversification is important in the crypto market. The reason is simple: I'm afraid the service could turn into a scam, even though Poloniex is a giant in the market, but no one is immune to that.
