The image compression tool reduces the file size of JPG and PNG images without noticeable quality loss. Everything happens right in your browser: the file is never uploaded to a server or sent anywhere.
How to compress an image
- Choose a JPG or PNG file from your computer or phone.
- Use the slider to set quality — 70–85% is usually the best balance of size and appearance.
- Click "Compress" and download the lighter version.
After processing you'll see how much the file weighed before and after, and the percentage saved.
Why compress images
- Site speed. Heavy images are the number-one cause of slow pages. Lighter images speed up your site and help your search rankings.
- Bandwidth and storage. Smaller files open faster on mobile and take up less disk space.
- Platform limits. Marketplaces, social networks, and forms often cap file size.

Frequently asked questions
Are the files really never uploaded?
Correct. Compression uses the browser's Canvas API. The image never leaves your device — safe even for private photos.
Why does a PNG download as a JPG?
JPG gives a much smaller size for photos. A transparent PNG background is filled with white in the process. If transparency matters, keep the original PNG.
Will quality drop a lot?
At 75–85% the difference is hard to see while the size shrinks several times over. For small details or text in the image, choose a higher value.
