We have a bunk bed. Our son, almost 4 years old, sleeps on the top level, while our daughter, almost 2, sleeps on the bottom (on the floor). We all fall asleep together at the bottom, and we fit easily; sometimes dad can join us too. Then I move my son to his spot. I really like the bed, and the kids do too. Here are my points: 1. It's not very convenient to make the bed. 2. It's comfortable to sleep with the kids; there's plenty of space. 3. It takes up a lot of room, but not more than two separate beds would. 4. The kids often "bump the beds" in their sleep, but they don't wake up. During the day, everything is fine. I have no complaints about the company; they even made some adjustments to the sizes specifically for us.
