Wet Fly Fishing Flys

The flys are supposed to resemble certain insects as they would look beneath the surface of the water. Fish will bite at wet fly fishing flys, thinking that they are drowned insects, aquatic insects, or larvae swimming to the surface to hatch. When using wet flys, you are not necessarily trying to imitate a particular insect or fish, etc. (whereas you are trying to do so when using dry flies or nymphs). Wet fly fishing flys are supposed to imitate insects in motion… they look like they are swimming to the surface or drowning, etc. You do not need perfect technique to fish with wet flys.

Dry Fly Fishing Flys

These fly fishing flys are meant to resemble an insect floating on the surface of the water (although, some do not imitate insects, but rather frogs, snakes, or mice, etc.) To keep the fly on the surface of the water, many of them need to be oiled with something like Gink. Some flys rely on the surface tension of the water to float.

well i dont live around bait stores so i usually go to like Big 5 sporting goods for fake bait and i found purple grubs and a blue/sliver spoon and im kinda wondering do you think those are good baits?

I`m fishing in Galveston off a pier in the morning should I use a pyramid sinker (I have a 2 and 3 oz.) or one with the round bottom.(1 or 2 oz.) I`m going to have two leaders coming off it with live or frozen shrimp if this matters any.

Since it seems that you will be new to trot lining,here is what you need to do. Buy you a trot line that is already made up of main line, staging, and hooks - it will come in a pack with 25 hooks to a pack, These can be purchased at your local wal- mart or tackle shop, The main line holds the staging and the staging holds the hooks-The staging is just a smaller diameter line then the main line.

I have been ice fishing for many years but never really used a tip up. I decided to try some this year and when i get the line on it and the liter and hook i cant get it to stay put. The line just keeps coming off. Any suggestion on preventing this.

Is spiderwire really all that good or are there better brands of line?
I have 10 pound spiderwire mono line rite now but im thinking about getting braided line..is there anythign out there better then spiderwire?

This in truth all comes down to what each angler likes, ive tried spider wire on a few occasions and although its not too bad i felt that it lacked the quality it should have had for the price, power pro is a good option, especially if you fish saltwater, but i also like stren microfuse braided lines along with berkley fireline, try and give each one a go if you know someone who fishes with each one have a try of them and see which one works best for you.

Whats a good spinning reel combo for shark fishing?
I`m looking for a good spinning reel combo for shark fishing in the St. Pete Beach, FL area. The fishing would be from beach or pier. What reel and rod would you recommend? Any suggestions on line also? I definitely am looking for a reel that can hold alot of line. I`m also looking for any advice on rig set up as well. Any help would be deeply appreciated. As summer approaches the water temperatures warm and many Minnsota lakes start to develop a wider range of fishable locations. Many midlake structures starts to hold fish as well as basin areas. Fish tend to be on the edges of flats, rock reefs, and suspended in the basin adjacent to spawning areas.. When water temps reach the 60`s fish will start schooling up in these areas and large post-spawn females will start actively feeding.

what is the best way to tie leadcore to my trolling reel?
Assuming that you`re not filling the spool totally with leadcore line, tie your backing to the spool by whatever knot is handy. This one, in the end, doesn`t really matter.

Spool the necessary amount of backing onto your reel to leave enough room for the 100-yards of leadcore you`ll be using. (When you are finished, you want your leadcore to fill the spool to within 1/4" of the edge.) Tie the leadcore to your backing with a barrel knot (or similar) and trim the ends fairly close. Continue to fill the spool with your leadcore until full as indicated above.

Is the Offshore Angler Power Plus Trophy Spinning Rod and Reel Combos a decent combo for surf fishing?
Im going this january to do some surf & pier fishing in Myrtle Beach SC anyone had much experience with the rod n reel??

the rods are cheap. i used a 9` rod and it said 1-3oz and it snapped in half with a 2oz weight.
use a ugly stik. they are a lot stronger and they are made better. the reels have no problem but i prefer the offshore angler gold cup GC70B
