Review Time
After the laboratory closed a couple of years ago, there was some equipment, glassware, and furniture left. The task was to gradually sell everything off. I managed to get rid of inexpensive items like laboratory glassware and supplies (stirrer, hot plate) through Avito, although very cheaply. It was harder from there. Instruments like chromatographs, atomic spectrometers, spectrophotometers, scientific microscopes, and other complex equipment are very expensive. It quickly became clear that finding a buyer for used instruments of this level would be a challenging task.
On Avito, after several attempts to boost my listings over six months, I didn't receive a single call. I tried looking for buyers through forums, but it became evident that people were expecting very low prices, around 10-15% of the cost of a six-year-old instrument. I really didn't want to make such deals.
About a year and a half ago, from an email newsletter that seemed like spam, I learned about the website www.findlab.ru. Since posting there is free, I decided to list all my items—if it doesn't cost anything, why not take advantage of it? For about seven months, there was complete silence. Then I got a couple of calls, and one instrument was sold. After some more time, just recently, I sold the rest. They found us specifically through findlab.ru, and we are very happy! The buyer is a small laboratory in the food industry. I wish them luck in their business and hope our equipment serves them well!
During all this time, I didn't pay any money to the site for the listings. If you forget about your ad, after 4 or 5 months—I can't remember—an email reminder comes. You can either extend the listing through your personal account, or as I understood, it will automatically be deleted in a couple of days.
You can extend it every month on your own, bringing the ad back to the top of the fresh listings, but with such equipment, that probably doesn't make much sense—any buyer who sees the relevant ad, even if it's a year old, will reach out to the seller; you just have to wait. And we waited :)
